Job Description and Requirements

.We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years designing analog and mixed-signal circuits that work in silicon, not just simulation. You understand that every design is a tradeoff between power, performance, and area, and you know how to find the right balance. SerDes blocks are your comfort zone. Whether it is a PLL, equalizer, CDR, or transmit driver, you see how the pieces connect and where the noise originates.

You work closely with layout teams to manage parasitics, with verification engineers to corner designs properly, and with customers who need clear explanations of what you built and why it works. You bring both technical rigor and practical problem-solving to every project. At Synopsys, you will design high-speed communication IP that ships into real products, working with serious tools and a team that values quality.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define analog sub-block specifications for PAM4 SerDes IP based on industry standards
  • Design and optimize circuit architectures for PLLs, equalizers, CDRs, and transmit drivers
  • Run transistor-level simulations using SPICE tools, including corner analysis and Monte Carlo verification
  • Collaborate with layout engineers to minimize parasitics and ensure signal integrity
  • Present simulation results and design tradeoffs to internal teams and customers
  • Document circuit functionality, verification coverage, and test plans for IP integration

The Impact You Will Have

  • Deliver high-speed PAM4 SerDes IP for next-generation data center, AI, and networking products
  • Strengthen Synopsys' leadership in analog and mixed-signal IP with reliable, high-performance circuits
  • Drive architectural decisions that shape power, area, and speed tradeoffs in multi-gigabit systems
  • Enable customer success with well-documented, thoroughly verified IP
  • Mentor team members and elevate design quality across the group
  • Influence future SerDes roadmaps through circuit innovation and technical insight

What You'll Need

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years in analog or mixed-signal IC design
  • Strong experience with transistor-level CMOS design and SerDes sub-circuits
  • Proficiency with SPICE simulation tools like HSPICE or Spectre
  • Understanding of layout effects and experience working with layout teams
  • Scripting skills in TCL, Python, or MATLAB for simulation automation
  • Clear communication skills for technical presentations and documentation

Who You Are

  • You spot potential circuit issues early, whether it is a stability concern or a mismatch problem
  • You work iteratively with layout engineers, addressing parasitics as the design evolves
  • You explain complex simulation data clearly to engineers and customers alike
  • You document your work thoroughly because you know it matters for the next person
  • You stay current with circuit techniques and SerDes standards
  • You thrive in collaborative environments with rigorous design reviews

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will join a world-class R&D group specializing in high-speed analog and mixed-signal IC design. The team works on cutting-edge SerDes IP using industry-leading tools and processes. You will collaborate with a diverse, global team of designers, verification engineers, and layout specialists who take the work seriously and support each other through complex design challenges.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
