Job Description and Requirements

We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You are an experienced analog design engineer who has spent years developing cutting-edge SerDes products and advancing high-speed chip-to-chip communications. With a strong grasp of CMOS technologies, you possess a solid background in analog and mixed-signal block design, particularly related to high-speed interfaces such as Drivers, Receivers, Clocking, and CDR. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with layout and cross-functional teams to optimize circuit performance, power, and area. Your analytical skills and problem-solving mindset enable you to tackle complex challenges and deliver reliable solutions. You know that a circuit that looks perfect in simulation can still fail in silicon if you miss the parasitic story, and you have learned to catch those issues before tape out. You communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally, and are comfortable using industry-standard IC design packages and UNIX operating systems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and validate analog circuits for high-speed SerDes IP, accounting for electrical specifications and reliability constraints in advanced FinFET and GAA process nodes
  • Document simulation results using industry-standard IC design packages, ensuring traceability and design integrity across the development cycle
  • Evaluate parasitic effects from layout implementations and work directly with the layout team to minimize impact on performance, power, and area
  • Define and plan analog design activities, setting milestones and deliverables that align with project timelines and cross-functional dependencies
  • Collaborate with global design teams to integrate analog blocks into SoCs, ensuring they meet unique application requirements across mobile, automotive, cloud, AI, IoT, 5G, and storage markets
  • Troubleshoot complex circuit behavior in simulation and post-layout environments, applying your problem-solving skills to deliver reliable, silicon-proven solutions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of analog design methodologies, sharing insights and best practices with the broader R&D team

The Impact You Will Have

  • Enable high-speed communications for leading-edge devices and systems across multiple industries, from data centers to autonomous vehicles
  • Help optimize circuit performance, power, and area for Synopsys' silicon-proven SerDes products, directly influencing customer success and time-to-market
  • Support the integration of advanced analog blocks into SoCs to meet unique application requirements, ensuring differentiation in competitive markets
  • Minimize risk and accelerate time-to-market for customer products by delivering robust, well-validated analog IP
  • Shape the future of chip-to-chip communication standards by working on SerDes IP that will be deployed in millions of devices worldwide

What You'll Need

  • Strong understanding of CMOS technologies, particularly in the context of analog and mixed-signal design for high-speed interfaces
  • 5+ years of industry experience in analog and mixed-signal block design, with hands-on work in high-speed SerDes components such as Drivers, Receivers, Clocking, and CDR
  • Proven analysis, problem-solving, and organizational skills, demonstrated through successful tapeouts or validated circuit designs
  • Proficiency with one or more IC design packages such as Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Custom Compiler, or similar tools
  • Familiarity with UNIX operating systems for design automation and scripting workflows
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, capable of documenting complex design decisions and collaborating with global teams
  • Knowledge of analog CMOS circuit design, typically obtained through a specialization in Electronics at the university level, is preferred

Who You Are

  • You can look at a schematic and immediately spot the weak points where process variation or layout parasitics will cause trouble
  • You work closely with layout engineers, not just handing off a design but staying engaged through the entire physical implementation to ensure performance targets are met
  • You document your work clearly because you know that six months from now, someone else or you will need to understand why a decision was made
  • You are comfortable in a multicultural, global team environment where time zones and communication styles vary, and you adapt your approach to keep the work moving
  • You push back when a specification does not make sense or when a tradeoff has not been fully considered, because you care about delivering a design that actually works in silicon
  • You stay current with advancements in process technology and design techniques, applying new knowledge to improve your circuits and methodologies

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will be part of a fast-growing analog and mixed-signal R&D team, developing high-speed analog integrated circuits in the most advanced FinFET and GAA process nodes. You will interact with a global, dynamic, multicultural and cross-functional design team, working together to deliver industry-leading SerDes IP solutions.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
