Job Description and Requirements

We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years in the trenches of FPGA-based prototyping, where the difference between a design that boots and one that stalls at initialization is often buried three layers deep in a timing violation or a poorly mapped partition. You know HAPS and ZeBu not from marketing slides but from late nights debugging signal integrity issues and optimizing multi-FPGA configurations that actually have to work under real customer SoC loads.

Walking into a room with a failing prototype does not rattle you. You pull waveforms, trace signals, check constraints, and methodically narrow down what broke and why. You speak the language of RTL engineers, understand what synthesis tools are doing under the hood, and can explain a complex partitioning tradeoff to a product manager without losing the technical thread.

Collaboration is not a buzzword for you. You have worked across R&D, validation, and customer-facing teams, translating what a customer needs into requirements that engineers can build and what engineering delivers into something a customer can deploy. At Synopsys, you will work on prototyping platforms that power the development of the next generation of semiconductors, and the solutions you validate will directly accelerate how our customers bring their chips to market.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Validate advanced HAPS prototyping features using large, complex customer SoC designs, running real workloads to ensure performance, scalability, and functional correctness across multi-FPGA systems
  • Debug and resolve intricate design and prototyping issues, from RTL synthesis bottlenecks to inter-FPGA communication failures, and document solutions that improve customer workflows
  • Define and refine technical requirements for HAPS prototyping flows by working directly with R&D, translating field insights into actionable product improvements
  • Collaborate with Applications Engineering and Product Validation teams globally to deliver seamless customer deployments, troubleshoot escalations, and ensure prototyping platforms meet real-world use cases
  • Build and optimize automation scripts in Python and Tcl to streamline validation workflows, improve test coverage, and accelerate turnaround time for feature releases
  • Provide technical leadership during customer engagements, offering strategic recommendations on partitioning strategies, debug methodologies, and best practices for FPGA-based prototyping
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing recurring issues, proposing design flow enhancements, and contributing to internal knowledge bases and training materials

The Impact You Will Have

  • Accelerate time-to-market for customer SoCs by validating prototyping features that directly improve debug efficiency and system bring-up speed
  • Elevate product quality by identifying gaps early in the development cycle and driving cross-functional alignment on fixes and enhancements
  • Standardize prototyping workflows across global teams, reducing variability and increasing reuse of validated methodologies
  • Strengthen customer satisfaction by delivering solutions that solve real bottlenecks in their prototyping environments, not just check feature boxes
  • Influence the product roadmap by translating field experience into requirements that shape the next generation of HAPS capabilities
  • Build institutional knowledge through documentation and training that scales your expertise across the organization
  • Enable faster adoption of new prototyping technologies by creating clear, repeatable deployment processes that work across diverse customer environments

What You'll Need

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in FPGA-based prototyping, FPGA design, or hardware validation, with direct exposure to large SoC designs and multi-FPGA systems
  • Strong proficiency in Verilog and SystemVerilog, with deep understanding of RTL design, synthesis, simulation, and modern FPGA architectures from vendors like Xilinx or Intel
  • Practical experience with HAPS or ZeBu prototyping platforms, including partitioning, mapping, debug, and deployment workflows
  • Solid scripting skills in Python and Tcl for automation, flow development, and productivity tooling
  • Proven ability to debug complex hardware and RTL issues using tools like waveform viewers, logic analyzers, and FPGA vendor debug utilities
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with ARM bus architectures, display interfaces, or industry-standard protocols such as USB, PCIe, SATA, or DDR is a strong plus

Who You Are

  • You can take a cryptic customer bug report, reproduce the issue in a lab setup, and walk out with a root cause analysis and a workaround, all without waiting for perfect information
  • You communicate technical tradeoffs clearly, whether you are explaining a partitioning constraint to an R&D engineer or walking a customer through a debug strategy over a call
  • You stay organized across multiple validation efforts, customer escalations, and internal projects without losing track of what needs to ship next week
  • You push back when a requirement is too vague or a proposed solution does not align with how customers actually use the platform, and you do it constructively
  • You learn quickly, whether it is a new FPGA architecture, an unfamiliar protocol, or a customer's proprietary design flow, and you apply that knowledge to deliver results
  • You thrive in environments where priorities shift, timelines are tight, and the work requires both deep technical focus and cross-team coordination

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will be part of a dynamic and innovative team focused on driving the next generation of prototyping solutions. Our team thrives on collaboration, continuous learning, and pushing the boundaries of technology. We work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
