Descriptions & Requirements
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent years running IT operations that actually serve the business, not just keep the lights on. You understand that when an engineer in Yokohama cannot access their design tools or a conference room system fails five minutes before a customer demo, that is not a ticket number, that is your problem to solve. You have managed teams, vendors, and projects across enough office moves, system rollouts, and infrastructure upgrades to know that the plan always changes and the ability to adjust without losing momentum is what separates good IT leaders from overwhelmed ones.
You are equally comfortable sitting with a VP who needs to understand why the office relocation timeline just shifted and working through a ServiceNow escalation with your team at 6pm on a Friday. You do not wait for global IT to hand you a perfect solution. You translate what Japan needs, push back when a global standard does not fit the local reality, and find a way to make it work without creating technical debt downstream.
Bilingual fluency is not a nice-to-have for you, it is how you operate. You think in Japanese and English, and you know how to navigate the cultural and operational nuances of supporting a Japan business unit within a global company. At Synopsys, you will lead IT for one of our most important regions, supporting thousands of users doing semiconductor and software work that cannot afford downtime.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead end-user IT support operations across all Japan locations, including Windows and macOS devices, mobile, conference room tech, collaboration platforms, printing, and telephony
- Manage local IT vendors, hardware suppliers, telecom providers, and service contractors, overseeing procurement, inventory, device deployment, asset recovery, and IT asset disposition
- Drive technology workstreams for office relocations, expansions, site consolidations, and workplace modernization projects, coordinating across Facilities, HR, Security, Network, and Workplace Services teams
- Serve as the Japan point of contact for infrastructure activities involving LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, data centers, cloud services, identity management, security controls, and disaster recovery
- Build strong partnerships with Japan business leaders and engineering teams, acting as trusted technology advisor and translating business needs into actionable IT solutions
- Lead local IT staff, contractors, and managed service providers, developing team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and fostering a culture of operational excellence and customer focus
- Monitor KPIs, drive continual service improvement, and act as escalation point for critical incidents impacting Japan users
The Impact You Will Have
- Ensure stable, secure, and scalable IT services that keep thousands of Synopsys engineers and business users in Japan productive every day
- Reduce downtime and improve user experience by building a high-performing support operation that resolves issues faster and prevents recurring problems
- Enable business growth and operational agility by delivering office moves, expansions, and infrastructure projects on time and within scope
- Strengthen Synopsys's ability to support semiconductor and R&D work in Japan by ensuring local IT requirements are represented in global technology roadmaps
- Build vendor and partner relationships that deliver better service, better pricing, and faster response when it matters
- Develop a local IT team that can handle complexity, scale with the business, and adopt automation and AI-enabled tools to work smarter
- Create a seamless technology experience for Japan users that aligns with global standards while respecting local business and cultural needs
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
- 8+ years of enterprise IT experience with 3+ years in IT management or team leadership roles
- Native or fluent Japanese and business-level English
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows and macOS endpoint management, ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM platform, and enterprise telephony and collaboration platforms
- Proven track record managing IT service delivery, end-user computing, vendor management, asset lifecycle management, and infrastructure coordination in a multinational organization
- Strong project management skills with experience leading office relocations, technology rollouts, or infrastructure integration projects
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent certification is a plus, as is PMP or project management certification and experience supporting semiconductor, software, or R&D organizations
Who You Are
- You can walk into a room with business leaders who need IT to enable a major office move in 90 days and walk out with a plan that accounts for network, telephony, security, asset logistics, and user communication without dropping any of it
- You manage vendors like partners, not order-takers, holding them accountable for SLAs while building relationships that give you leverage when you need something solved fast
- You know the difference between a global IT standard that makes sense for Japan and one that needs to be adapted, and you are comfortable making the case for local requirements without becoming a blocker
- You treat incidents like learning opportunities, not just fires to put out, and you build processes that prevent the same issue from happening twice
- You develop your team by giving them ownership, not just tasks, and you know when to coach, when to step in, and when to let someone figure it out on their own
- You stay current on automation, AI-enabled support tools, and service delivery trends because you know the IT function that stands still gets left behind
The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will lead the Japan IT team and serve as the primary IT business partner for Synopsys Japan, working closely with regional IT leaders across Asia-Pacific and global IT teams responsible for infrastructure, security, collaboration, and workplace services. This role sits at the intersection of local execution and global alignment, and you will collaborate regularly with Facilities, HR, Security, Network, and Data Center teams to deliver technology that supports one of Synopsys's most important markets.
Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
